Beginner/Intro to Meditation Class $15.00 non-members

Learn the basics of mindfulness meditation (Samatha) like breath and focus in seated as well as walking meditation. We discuss the basic goal of meditation and answer questions related to how to get started. This is an introductory class that has equal amounts of discussion and meditation practice.

Guided Meditation (relaxation) Class $15 non-members

Our Guided Meditation class gives you a nap from your day. Guided Meditation is a sort of self hypnosis that creates a deep state of relaxation and rejuvenation. With relaxing music and sound, your facilitator will talk you through relaxing every part of your body and then allow you to bask in deep state of relaxation for the period offering you gentle reminders and check-ins throughout the hour.

Samatha (Mindfulness) Class $10 non-members

This class the regular quiet mindfulness meditation practice that we aim to practice as a daily practice. Samatha is just like a regular Buddhist meditation practice but is offered in a secular setting. We set religious doctrine aside, but the practice and end goal are shared with the Buddhists. As our practice develops, we see growth in our basic human goodness, gentleness, community and strength. This is mostly a quiet class with a facilitator sounding the starting and ending gong. There is a short walking meditation period about halfway through the hour.

Guided into Samatha 1.5 hour Class $20 non-members

This class uses the first 30 minutes to relax your mind. Our facilitator will talk you through to deep relaxation before a short walking meditation period followed by a longer Samatha session. The class combines guided with music and our regular quiet mindfulness meditation practice that we aim to practice as a daily practice.

Meditation With Sound Class $10 non-members

This is a Samatha class with relaxing 432 hertz gong sounds to relax you and keep you focused. Mostly quiet, there is a facilitator to get things going and gong the start, end and walking period about halfway through the hour. Some people feel the sounds help them stay focused while others prefer the Samatha class without sound. Try both and see what works for you.

Challenge Class $10 non-members

Challenge classes are for those who have an established meditation practice and want to challenge their ability to focus their mind in a chaotic environment. Challenge classes play louder, more chaotic (less relaxing) music and sounds that will change throughout the hour.

Hard Head Level 1: Gentleness and Basic Goodness

The Hard Head Level 1 course establishes an understanding of our basic goodness. Through gentleness, especially toward ourselves, we begin to cultivate an appreciation of our predicament in life. We see who we are and what we’ve been given through a new lens of calmness, gentleness and goodness. Lengthy practice is broken up by walking meditation, a short talk, and discussion. These are weekend-long or 6 week courses that develop community and establish a foundation for growth in our practice.

Hard Head Level 2: Being Present in Daily Life

Our meditation practice actually has a point and a goal, and that is to carry a calm, present mind into our daily lives. As our practice develops, we begin to realize we’ve been missing moments of the present in our lives because our minds are often on other things rather than being present in the moment. Oftentimes, our minds are working on what we said yesterday or what we plan on saying or doing tomorrow or next week. These objectives usually prove to be useless endeavors and often cause stress, anxiety, and other emotional turmoil that halts us from truly living. Hard Head Level 2 teaches us to stay present, giving respect to those we interact with in the now and building on our basic goodness from Level 1.
